Laughs, Love and Laughs. Announcing February Live Comedy

Valentine's Day, Black History Month, Birthdays, slightly longer days, just ‘cause. There are plenty of reasons to celebrate this February, and here’s six times to do so.

FRI. FEB. 1 - M-B COMEDY #171: HEADLINERS FT. DANIEL WOODROW (BHM EDITION)

We’re teaming up with the University of Guelph Cultural Affairs centre to bring you a night of celebration of some of Canada’s top black comedians. Our headliner Daniel Woodrow (Just for Laughs, Winnipeg Comedy Festival), has brought our house down before and will do so again, this time supported by a stacked cast of other hilarious people.

FRI. FEB. 8 - M-B COMEDY #172: GUELPH ACTUALLY (AN IMPROVISED LOVE STORY)

Romance. Comedy. Heartbreak. All improvised. In this Valentine’s special, The Making-Box Brigade will improvise a romantic comedy from start to finish based on your suggestions. Will love win all? Will we all end up heartbroken? Who’s going to kiss each other on the mouth? We don’t know yet, but are excited to find out with you.

FRI. FEB. 15 - M-B COMEDY #173: HEADLINERS FT. JACKIE PIRICO

One of our absolute favourite comedians, and daily poster of instagram stories about cats, Jackie Pirico is coming back to Guelph. Named an “adept comic scene stealer” by The Hollywood Reporter, Jackie Pirico delights audiences with her oddball material and disarming style. Catch her Just for Laughs television taping on The Comedy Network, her segment Pet Trialz on Viceland TV and at The Making-Box!

THURS. FEB. 21 - M-B COMEDY #174: THE FUTURE IS FUNNY

Guelph’s favourite feminist comedy show is back for its first rendition of 2019. Our cast of female and non-binary comedy stars will continue breaking the glass ceiling in the funniest way possible. All comedy and people should represented and celebrated, so come support the movement.

FRI. FEB. 22 - M-B COMEDY #175: ROYAL CITY HEROES

This is our monthly celebration of Guelph and the beautiful humans within it. This month, our brand-new Battalion will improvise scenes based on the life of our local hero. It’s sure to be the Guelphiest, wildest and funniest thing you see all week. So don’t delay and reserve your seats now.

TUES. FEB. 26 - M-B COMEDY #176: ROOKIES (FEBRUARY)

Our amateur night has been consistently packed with new comedy and is quickly becoming a favourite show of ours. People try new funny things, whether those things work or not, isn’t important. Because being bold is always worth celebrating! Want to get on stage? Email braeden@themakingbox.ca and nab a spot now.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

By this point in the year, your organization or the place you work may already be feeling a little lull. You may ask yourselves:

  • “How can we come together more?”

  • “How can we collaborate more productively?”

  • “How can we make strong decisions, with less indecision?”

  • “How can we communicate more effectively?”

  • “How can we inject more fun into this place?”

Fortunately for you, the answer to all of these questions is: register for an Improv for Business session.  We worked with engineers, financial institutions, tech startups, health-care teams, city governments, universities and maybe you’re next. Learn how we’ve helped organizations become more happy, collaborative, productive and joyful.
