It’s been two weeks since we announced our opening and we’ve officially sold out of tickets to Kevin McDonald and to our Grand Opening Sketch Revue: BirkenStockholm Syndrome. The people of Guelph are ready for more comedy. The good news is, our opening month is just getting started. Right now tickets for the rest of our Friday night September shows are available. Here's what's coming:
SEPT. 15 - M-B COMEDY #90: ROYAL CITY HEROES W/ JIM ESTILL
Royal City Heroes is Guelph’s only improv comedy show celebrating Guelph and its wonderful people! Our guest this month is Jim Estill, CEO of Danby. Jim gained international acclaim when he personally helped 50 Syrian refugee families find homes and jobs in Guelph earlier this year.
During the show, we’re going to create improv comedy inspired by Jim’s stories. It’s a celebration of community, comedy and refreshingly selfless CEOs!
SEPT 22 - M-B COMEDY #91: HEADLINERS FT. MARK LITTLE
In the early days of YouTube, anyone who scoured comedy clips was sure to come across Canadian sketch group Picnicface. Turns out one of the minds behind these wonderful weirdos was Mark Little.
Since those early days, Mark Little has stayed busy, winning Canadian Comedy Awards, appearing multiple times at Just For Laughs, debuting on Conan, and starring in the CBC sitcom Mr. D. He’s joined by 4 of Guelph’s finest funny locals for what’s going to be an top-notch night of stand-up.
SEPT. 29 - GUELPH COMEDY FEST 2017 PREVIEW GALA
The last show of the month, is the first of Guelph Comedy Festival. As a sponsor of the festival, The Making-Box will be producing this Preview Gala, which features stand-up, sketch and just might be the best collection of comedy to land in Guelph on a single night.
DeAnne Smith (Last Comic Standing, Just For Laughs, Melbourne Comedy Festival) had one of the biggest viral Facebook comedy clips in Canada this Summer with 28 million views and counting. She is still the only comic to ever be crowd-surfed out of The Making-Box.
Jess Salomon (The Debaters, Winnipeg Comedy Fest) is perhaps the world’s funniest UN Crime Lawyers turned stand-up comic, not to mention a very impressive resume of appearances at international comedy shows.
Soul Decision is an award-winning Canadian sketch duo who will be performing at JFL42 this year. At The Montreal Sketch Fest and Toronto Sketch Fest, they were named “Best of the Fest.”
Needless to say, this is a night worth attending.
