EIGHT WEEKS - ONE SHOWCASE

Flex a whole new set of improv muscles. This class is for anyone willing to try something new - bring it on, terrible singers. Here, we focus on strong emotional choices, commitment to relationships and learning the basics of improvised song. Discover and support original choruses (both rhyming and non-rhyming) and unpack the tricks and tips behind musical improv - it's not as hard as it looks. Warm up those pipes, and get ready to belt it! 

What is covered: Improvised solo songs, duets, group songs and soundscapes. Physical improv and silent improv. Creating an ensemble to include live musical accompaniment. Vocal strengthening.

Who it is for:  Graduates of and concurrent LEVEL THREE students or those who have permission from the Improv Incubator Director

Instructor: Chris New 

About Chris New:  Chris New is a musical director, composer, and writer. He worked as a musical director with Second City for 6 years and some of his credits include "Miracle on Mercer Street", "The Bench", and "Second City goes BOOM!". Chris has played for countless shows across the Toronto improv community. He also scores the award-winning podcast “Illusionoid,” and has scored for film, most notably the Canadian Comedy Award-winning film “Chere.”
